Taping sticks make them more durable, safer, and slightly quieter. They also look cooler.

Could you please tell me the length and diameter of the dowels you wrap for bucket drumming. I am in Ontario, Canada and teach K-Gr 3 Music. I wish I could someday attend one of your workshops. Maybe someday.
Thanks Susan

Hi!

The dowels that I use are 12 inches long and 1/2 inch in diameter.

You should definitely attend one of the workshops, I presented in Saskatoon last fall and would love some Canadian representation at the workshop!

Why do you use taped dowel rods rather than drum sticks? Is it for cost reason?
Thank you

Hi Lisa,

I use dowels because they are cheaper, lighter, and quieter than drumsticks. Also they put less wear and tear on the buckets. That being said, using drumsticks is totally fine too.
